Did you know it takes 400 repetitions of an activity to build a new brain synapse (form a habit) but it only takes 10 repetitions if it is fun? My goal in all of my classes and services is to focus on the human/dog partnership. These are not your average classes. You will learn not only skills to train your dog but also canine psychology, canine body language, how we affect our dogs and how to work on ourselves to get the results we want in our dogs.

Coupe's mom says... I started working with Colleen at Heroes with our 2 year old 75lb. Walker Hound rescue. He is a sweet dog at home but was a bit of a monster on leash in public. He loves people and would pull aggressively to greet them and could also be reactive with other large dogs. We attended the canine elementary class and I gained a much deeper understanding of his behaviors and the tools to help redirect them. When we brought a rescue puppy into the house this past March and I was able to use all that I learned to train the basics. -Alicia

Percy's mom says... The puppy was very nervous around people and those nerves were making it hard for him to enjoy being out in the world. Colleen recommended we try the Beginner Agility classes to boost his confidence. It really helped! By the end of the 6 weeks he was very (sometimes too) comfortable with everyone in class. We now have actions/skills we can practice to redirect his nervous energy in new situations and he continues to build his confidence. -Alicia

Classes are taught by
Colleen Campbell
Colleen Campbell focuses on Private sessions, play and Train, Service dog, Paws for Joy canine assisted therapy and out and About Classes. She has been working with rescue dogs and teaching obedience classes since 2004. She learned most of her skills from Christina Williamson and her own pups, a boxer, Keylee, and hound mix, Brady.
Colleen worked with Christina while working for North Country Animal League in Vermont. She assisted in instructing obedience classes while learning skills to handle her difficult dog, Keylee. Keylee taught her so much about dog behavior and how to be constantly aware of her dog, their surroundings, and canine body language. Brady her sweet, shy hound taught her how to get a willing and happy pup from a timid, nervous dog. She is excited to help you and your pup create that trusting bond through mental enrichment and physical exercise specific to your training needs.
Colleen is a certified trainer with the IAABC and an AKC CGC evaluator. She is a founder and owner of Heroes Training and Heroes, Horses and Hounds.
Coupe and Percy's mom says...
Colleen is always willing to help me problem solve and answer any questions I have about the skills we learned in class. The work I’ve done with Colleen and Heroes has made our boys the kind of dogs people look forward to seeing! -Alicia
Fritzie's mom says... As a trainer, Colleen has a wonderful energy which sets the tone for dogs and humans. She is endlessly patient and calm and never judgmental. I appreciate how she explains the dogs’ motivations, and works with you based on your particular dog’s temperament. My daughter and I have done puppy training and agility training with Fritzie at Heroes. Both have been great experiences and helped us develop a wonderful connection with our pup, as well as making all three of us more confident. -Ellen
